Synscan app communication error

I updated the firmware of my eqm35i  motor controller using wifi. The Synscan Pro app still finds the mount and lists the IP, but it then says "can't connect... communication error." I went through all the steps repeatedly, checked that app was set to network and the ports were correct. I did the hour-long reset for the controller. I even turned off the house wifi. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Tried that, but no luck.

Issue resolved. I needed to update firmware of wifi dongle.

How did you update it? I have the star adventurer GTI and I'm facing the exact same issue right now. Where did you find the firmware and how did you go about updating it?
