Finally assembled lens cell

Some time ago I decided to purchase doublet achromat lens from AliExpress. It arrived in great condition, but I haven't managed to find time to do anything meaningful with it until now.

Here it is mounted in 3d printed lens cell. Hopefully, I'll get aluminum tubing for OTA and dew shield in a few days so I can start assembling this DIY scope.

Btw, lens is 80mm F600 one.

Looking great! I've got a D83mm F400mm lens on the way, and I'm planning to do something similar. Any chance you could share the 3D design on Thingiverse please?

This is work in progress - and it requires knowledge of tolerances of your printer. It is designed specifically my printer and for my lens size and tube size that I plan to use.

Not sure if STLs would do you any good.

Here is FreeCAD model that you can tweak and adjust to suit your lens once you measure it - and adjust for your tube size (ID/OD).

Hope you'll be able to use it (FreeCAD is open source so it's readily available)

If you have any questions about it, I'd be happy to answer them.

Thank you for sharing this. Quite likely I will need to adjust the design, as in one description the lens is 80mm, in the other it's 83mm. A good opportunity to learn FreeCAD
