62P/Tsuchinshan with DSLR+50mm f1.8 fixed on a tripod

Recommended Posts

A surprise last night (actually 2.30am 6Dec ) I was about to go to bed when a last sky check revealed a reasonably clear sky.
Quickly out came the Canon60d with vintage 50mm f1.8 Pentacon, fixed on a tripod.

After chasing down Vesta and a few other asteroids nearby in Gemini I looked on Stellarium for another target,  62P/Tsuchinshan showed up in Leo,
With no great expectation (the Moon was not far away) at 4am I rattled off 300/ only 267 stacked /x5sec subs and let DSS to do its thing,

Well ! what a surprise the below shows it no prob.! Not pretty but I got it :)
Did a search on the forum but not a lot showed up ?! So should I post a heads-up in "events" ?

Crops of 510x470pix from original 5202x3465 subs with a monster stretch in Gimp.
