Gabrielwiklund
After 2 weeks of bad weather the skies finally cleared up and i could start collecting photons from NGC 4236 on Tuesday. This Barred Spiral Galaxy is located in Draco above the Big Dipper and is a member of the M81 group of galaxies located almost 12 million light years away. 8 hours and 53 minutes total integration (533x60s collected over the course of 4 nights) 100 darks 40 flats 40 flat darks ASI533MC Pro @ -10°C Gain 105 Offset 70 ZWO UV/IR CUT 1.25" 8" f/5 Sky-Watcher Explorer 200PDS ES HR Coma Corrector HEQ5 Pro 50/200mm Guidescope ASI120MM Mini ZWO EAF Software: EQmod,Nina,PHD2,Siril I have not boosted saturation or sharpened the image since that did not improve the result in my opinion. Spitfire
Nice image👍 I had a go at this object in 2009, using my kit at that time of Vixen R200SS and Atik camera. I was surprised to see what I thought were 2 extra arms of the spiral starting from half way up the centre. It took a lot of investigating to find that there are actually 2 galaxies one on top of the other: NGC4236-1 and NGC4236-2. Maybe this accounts for the extra arms.
