Parallelogram Binocular Mount Mount Fitting

I am making a wooden, parallelogram binocular  mount from some recovered boards.

The bit that I am wondering about is the actual holder for the binoculars.

Of late I have been using a Neewer Pistol Grip, Ball and Socket to hold the binoculars atop a tripod.

 

Question.

Which is the better?     A Neewer Pistol Grip, or a swing "L" Bracket?
