Neptune and Triton (C8 XLT + ADC) - 24 Aug 2023

Hi, a few evenings ago I tried with Neptune and its largest satellite, Triton which has magnitude 13.7. Before, I visually observed it using high magnifications to darken the city sky background (333x with Baader BCO 6mm).

The diameter of Neptune (2.4") is really small and the maximum that I obtained is its disk. Triton appears much larger in the image than it actually is (about 0.1"), given the resolution limit  of my the telescope. With this sampling it would have a diameter of about one single pixel.

The full resolution image and detailed shooting/processing info are available here: https://flic.kr/p/2oYR2mg

Nice image !

I've seen Triton visually a few times with my 12 inch scope and once (so far) with my 5.1 inch refractor.

With the 12" it shouldn't be difficult but with the 5.1" refractor I think it's very difficult. Well done! Is that the telescope shown in your avatar? It just looks like a nice classic telescope on a very solid mount, gorgeous!
