Sussex dark sites?

Hi, I live in Haywards Heath, Sussex and am looking for good safe spots to do some viewing, I.e. places where stargazers tend to gather and where  I’m unlikely to get mugged! It would be nice to get a few tips as well - I have a decent 150mm reflector and GP2 mount with a motor, but always struggle with tracking.

I have to be honest, I’m a real fair weather viewer, can’t stay awake beyond 11pm, hate the cold and don’t much like humping gear so hardly ever get the scope out these days.  However I promised a friend I’d find somewhere for us to get a good look at a planet or two and with Saturn coming now seems like a good time, while the weather is still warm. But I still feel a need for safety in numbers. What I have in mind is likely to be one of the car parks in Ashdown Forest but any recommendations would be welcome, thanks in advance.
