Visual survey of the extragalactic sky

I'm not quite sure where to put this since it's a bit of observation, a bit of science, a bit of just super cool, so I apologize if this is not quite the right place in the forum!

The  goal of the DESI Legacy Survey is to "[produce] an inference model of the extragalactic sky in the optical and infrared". In other words, they took lots of photos and created a coherent visual/infrared map of the sky outside of the Milky Way! The result of this work is quite stunning and it is presented online on https://www.legacysurvey.org/viewer

I hope you all will have as much fun as I'm having exploring this viewer 🤓 you can search you favorite extragalactic objects by NGC, IC, and even M identifiers, as well as filter different surveys that have been made at different moments in time (I personally like the unWISE W1/W2 NEO7). There are also plenty of different overlays to find types of objects, etc.

For further info about the whole scientific endeavor, look at their main page:https://www.legacysurvey.org/
