IR blocking filters?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Not sure if this is the correct section of the forum..anyway.....

I've been using a Watec 120n video camera recently, to do some 'video astronomy'. I've been reading about UV and IR blocking filters. I've got two of these, but never really used them. Should I be?

Will it improve the visual response?

The Watec contains a Sony ICX418ALLchip (if this means anything to you!??;))

Cheers for you help.

Hi Stef,

I've put the post in equipment section as I think it is more appropriate.

I leave my IR block on all the time, because most (all?) mono CCDs are sensitive to IR, which comes through as white fuzz and affects the resolution.
