Talentcell power for a small setup

Recommended Posts

Hi

Firstly sorry if this is the wrong chat for this question.
I regularly power my scope from the back garden with a power lead but with local light pollution I’m looking to venture out further afield so I will need (in my best Jeremy Clackson voice) “POWER”

I have a celestron nexstar 127 slt and I’m looking to get a celestron sky portal Wi-Fi module soon (or similar but that will be another question later on lol) and to run an iPad for 4-5 hours viewing with a dslr.

I have seen this on Amazon and wondered if this would power what I want it to do? Or is it overkill? I’m guessing overkill is better than not enough lol

Thanks for your time 😀

I would take the capacity with some scepticism. Also, the total output is only 2A which might be pushing it - slewing, plus tablet, plus camera + (dew heater?).  At full current draw (2A) you would probably only get a couple of hours out of this assuming it does not trip on high current. Personally, I would spend a bit more an get something a bit better.

Hi

thanks for the reply. I should have been a bit clearer.
the main purpose for this would be to run the scope. The charger would only be used for the iPad as a back up as the iPad would be fully charged prior to using and the dslr uses its own separate battery.
sorry I’m a complete novice with these power chargers  and from what I can tell it’s more to do with the ampage output?
I saw this one where it says “6a max” on the 12v outlet would this be better?

thanks again

If you are just running the mount, either would probably be OK (although I suspect 2 amp would be close when slewing). I would go for the second option which should power the mount ok for the time you need. Tracking only, the mount probably only draws about 0.5 amps.
