ASTAP reference image for stacking

Recommended Posts

I'd like to use the compose module in Startools to combine narrow band and RGB stacks. To do this, the stacks uploaded to Startools must be aligned and the datasets must have the same dimensions.

I think that stacks can be created in ASTAP that meet these criteria. The way to do this is to use the first finished stack as a reference to stack the others so that the channels are all aligned during stacking. Startools' web documentations indicates ASTAP can

register and align stacks to a reference.  I've not found a video or written instructions though. The included ASTAP documentation doesn't seem to mention this technique: https://www.hnsky.org/astap.htm#index

Can anyone help? I've a feeling the solution is obvious & I'm missing something basic!
