good sat images here

http://sat24.com/eu

and

good localised forecast here (accurate for me anyway)

http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/HOME/

and

the met office

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/index.html

also have a look at the day forecasts for differing areas and then see if they match what you get at night, here on anglesey i always try and notice what ireland is ggetting in the morning, it's not perfect but it all helps.

finally if you are using vista try the met office's sidebar gadget which is quite usefull

download from here

strange isn't it how differing weather sites have differing accuracies for different areas. you'd think that if they can be good for one place they would at least be reasonable for everywhere.

really winds me up how the met office struggle for me yet have a weather station with radar only 10 miles away at Valley

I usually go by the reports from a couple of sites such as metcheck and the met office, links found here. Both sites have been reasonably accurate for my location.

For really short term forcasts though I've started to use 7timer. Although that may not be too useful to you depending how far in advance you plan your trips.
