Widefield M101 under a bright moon

Well, it had to be done. The moon was blasting out light like mad, but I was very keen to see how the GSO 8" would cope with that against a faintish target.

To give it half a chance, I went for M101. I gave it just over three and a half hours, 400 sec subs. It was certainly not the easiest of targets, and to get anything from the pic was made a tad more difficult by the artifacts that have started to appear under heavy processing ( http://stargazerslounge.com/index.php/topic,38996.0.html ).

It wasn't easy to get the faint arms out as you see, but even so, I'm glad it wasn't a complete washout of three hours, no matter what the moon says :(

Thanks for looking.
