Flocking the outside of draw tube?

Recommended Posts

I'm flocking.   It's very addictive - anything that stands still for too long is fair game.

So far I've done the entire inside of the OTA, edges of secondary and the inside of the draw tube.

The one glaring exception is the outside of the draw tube. This is the original, plastic Skywatcher focuser so the outside of the draw tube has the very shiny, chrome-effect finish.  I daren't wrap any flocking around it because it is held within the focuser housing by three teflon pads that I assume wouldn't react well to the addition. Even if I painted it instead, I think there's a chance it would rub off with operation of the focuser. I suppose I could paint or flock just the parts that don't rub against the pads.

What do people usually do?  Can the outside of the draw tube be left as is?
