Skywatcher 200p collimation check

Recommended Posts

Hello

Just finished building the Skyliner 200p, popped in the Cheshire and this is how it looks right out of the box. What do you think?

Based on this dodgy phone shot through the Cheshire, is it close, what would you think needs doing if anything?

All advice very much appreciated

Andy

Hi Andy, yes it is very close to being spot on. Just a tiny tweak of the primary knobs to get the small donut ring directly over the cross hairs and bingo. As it is it should be good enough for observing purposes. I would do a star test with a high power eyepiece on a bright star just to confirm.

Hi Geoff

Thank you for that. Is it normal for the primary to look off to the right like that or am I being a bit OCD?

Yes that slight offset is quite normal and as it should be.
