First Lunar Report - With The Big Gun...

This report isn't going to be as detailed as soon, as it's my first lunar report with photographs.

I set the 8 inch Dobsonian up out the back door and was using the supplied 25mm MA to give me a wide image.  The moon looked stunning this evening and it was the first time I had saw it as a nearly full moon using my new Sky-Watcher Skyliner 200P telescope.  I managed to fix a smart phone holder to the EP, but it wasn't that steady.  I had problems aligning the camera with the plane of the EP, but I managed to capture some images.

I then progressed on the the Meade 4000 15mm SP EP, which gave a big improvement in the viewing experience.  I took some photographs with this EP, for comparison.   I used that supplied 10mm MA EP next, getting some reasonable results both visually and photographically.  I'm expecting better things on a new 8mm EP that comes tomorrow...  I hope the weather holds out till then.  I mixed things up a little, but using a moon filter to see what difference it made.  It certainly improved the contrast, bringing out the mare and reducing the glare.  I don't find the full moon under high magnification sore to look at, but I can imagine it would for others.

The last views were taking with the supplies 10mm MA and a OEM Meade 2x Barlow. As expected, the quality was poor.

I'm looking forward to solving the smartphone holder problem in the future, till then, I'll just keep viewing with the mark I eyeball.😉
