Spacing for Camera.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm trying to figure out the spacing needed to set up my camera and scope properly.

I have a Altair Wave 115edt, Planostar 0.79x, SXCCD Filterwheel and Trius 694.

The Trius has 17.5mm back focus, the filter wheel is 29mm thick to the flanges

Am I correct in saying that this set up needs no spacers as it adds up to 38.5mm?

Now if I don't use the Planostar, will I need extra extensions ?

I make that 46.5mm.

Without the reducer you will need 38.5 - 17.5 = 21mm spacer.

Cheers Michael, also had a reply from Altair that I would need 9.5mm between the reducer and filter.  Played around a bit tonight and managed to get what seemed like reasonable focus with a couple of short spacers, I think they totalled 12.5mm. Will try the 7.5mm with a couple of thin washers tomorrow.

Made a couple of 1mm thick wire rings and that brought the spacer up to 9.5mm which I thing has worked. The focus module in Ekos seemed to like it but then my CCD freezes so I couldn't get any test images.
