Cable run

As I dont have a laptop, how long a cable run is fesable to connect up a webcam etc. to a pc indoors,

is there a limit on the lenght of cables?, I realise that this will involve a lot of running in and out but

may do for now.

I'd say 5m max USB before you need a repeater actually. Ebay is full of them at about £8.00.
