PBS program, Chasing the Moon.

With the anniversary days away, PBS has been playing "Chasing the Moon."

It's had film footage from Mercury, Gemini and Apollo that really surprised me. Also shown many things I never knew. I had no idea that the astronauts of Apollo 7 refused to wear their helmets during reentry because of severe head colds. 

They never flew again.

Also played the recordings from Apollo 1. Knowing what was taking place, it was tough listening to it.

Had film footage shot with the Apollo 8's commander's wife, in their home, during the launch and trip around the moon. Seeing her struggling with worry and fear, really brought the risk those men were taking into focus.

I think I could watch this again and again.
