Hi @saturnian & your lady-friend. Welcome to SGL. :hello2:

£220 is about right as the SkyWatcher equivalent is about £275 from FLO... https://www.firstlightoptics.com/dobsonians/skywatcher-skyliner-200p-dobsonian.html - shame that she is having to sell it because of the weight issue.

Hello Saturnian and welcome to SGL.

As a rough guide, a 'like new hardly used' scope tends to sell for around 2/3 of new price.

There are though other factors. With new, you get shipping to your door for £10 to £20.
With a used big scope it is usually personal collection.

The cost and travel hassle will enter into a potential buyers choices.

In my opinion this forum is the best place in the UK to sell astro equipment.
You do not yet have access to post in the sale section. That comes with (genuine not farmed) posts.
Keeping the community close ensures both buyers and sellers are genuine.

A close second choice is AstroBuySell.
You can post here straight after registering.

Be aware there are a lot of resellers on this site, so you may get a low offer for a quick sale.
I have had this happen when using this site.
Check the advert and posting history of your potential buyer.

Finally, ebay and gumtree are options. But not the best places to sell 'proper' telescopes.

Better still. Why not offer to help your friend with the heavy scope?

Hope this helps, David.
