Removing IR Filter on D5300

Wanting to start chasing IR data on some nebulae, and thinking of removing the IR filter on the Nikon D5300. This is my primary imaging camera atm (translation: this is the only one I have the T-ring adapter for), and looks a lot easier to do than on the Canon 550D (frankly those 3 gazillion ribbon cables on the Canon scare the sh*t out of me.) Anyone have thoughts on this? Worth doing?

That's strange, the D5300 guide I've just looked at had more ribbon cables than a 550D....... ?

Dunno, I was merely going by a tutorial on YouTube, tho tbf it wasn't the 5300. If that's the case tho, I may have to rethink which one to mess with ?
