glennbech
Here is another of my adventures with the 8" Newtonian. 77 x 3 minute subs. Close to 4 hours of data from the 21st of October. I have stretched this a bit too far, but I wanted to show off the nice data in the blue channel. Hope you like it! I really like the 1000mm focal length.Collimation or focus (or both) is a bit off. Will fix next time :-)Large portions of the image are cropped out here due to heavy come. Hope that MPCC is arriving soon! Calling Steve! Calling Steve! steppenwolf
This is a very nice image indeed - what Newtonian was it taken with?
glennbech
It's taken with my 8" f/5 Skywatcher Explorer. It's reborn as an imaging scope after I realized that the HEQ5 Pro actually copes pretty well with the weight. Not a setup for windy nights but nevertheless.... steppenwolf
The same 8" I have. I have my MPCC but am awaiting a custom adapter for it - I am hoping for great things with this combination and look forward to seeing what you achieve with yours. I'm hoping that focus will not prove to be an issue. I've read that it adds about 10mm to the focuspoint. I hope that is enough as the DSLR barely reaches focus when I attach the T-ring to the the 1.25" EP adapter. It would be typical if It didn't focus! Whippy
That's a great shot. I should be also joining the ranks of newtonian imagers soon so I would imagine a MPCC will be on my wish list at some point.Tony..
glennbech
This is a new and more subtle aproach to the data. As you can see a coma corrector is neccesary to be able to work with a newtonian. I think only 20% or less of the image is coma free...(click to enlarge)
