Skywatcher Tripod (outdoor) Security

I have long contemplated leaving my (ubiquitous) Skywatcher Tripod
outside for longer periods... If it rains a LOT, I will bring it indoors! ?

I'm not OUT that much, and this is a "quiet" area, but I would feel a
tad more reassured if the tripod had some security against theft? So:

Nothing sophisticated, just bought a stainless steel M10 EYEBOLT
from Ebay, an Anchor (concrete) bolt, thick chain, two padlocks....
I normally use an Extension Pillar attached to the above of course.

I drilled out the "captivating" thread from the tripod to M10 clearance.
No great loss? Not exactly "Fort Knox", but might deter the casual thief
who forgets to go out without a Spanner / set of Hex Keys etc. etc. ?
