Amazing Bailly

Lady Isabella

Recommended Posts

Went out in the very early hours of this morning (13th), things did not look good,

high cloud and mist. Turned the scope (120mm Achromat) onto the Moon and was greeted with the most amazing seeing conditions. The crater Bailly was truly outstanding, with loads of fine detail visible. Also had great views of the area around Drygalski. Infact , most of the moon was giving up the most spectacular detail. Went up to Plato and picked-out the craters 1,3,4 and 5, also some fine brighter albedo features were seen within the crater. Magnification used was 222x and 266x. Later, the sky cleared and the seeing dropped like a lead ballon, ended up using 66x, before calling it a night.
