ed80 +dslr can't focus

Hi I am totally lacking knowledge hopefully someone can help. I have an explore scientific ed80 ,explore scientific field flattener and canon 1200d using backyard eos I can not focus on stars or moon. I have tried two 40mm extension tubes singular and both together.. the field flattener was bought attached to canon t adapter so I presumed that it would work once attached to telescope..  Any advice would be much appreciated.thanks

Start in the daytime. 

See if you need to move things further (slide things out from the focuser) to see if you can get focus

Do you have a diagonal in place in the image train? If so remove it.

As above..my skywatcher 80ed needed a diagonal to use a ep but didn't when using a DSLR.. .
