IR and UV blocking filter

hi graham,

the infrared and ultraviolet parts of the spectrum are invisible to the human eye.

infrared is felt as heat and most ultraviolet is filtered out by the atmosphere. the UV that does get through causes your skin to burn.

CMOS and CCD sensors are sensitive to these wavelengths which is why they need to be filtered if imaging in RGB.

regards

mike.
