Well where does the time go? It seems like only yesterday that I last posted an update on our observatory rebuild, but it was actually back in May http://stargazerslounge.com/index.php/topic,26400.0.html . Sorry guys I had intended posting more often but somehow never got round to it.

Anyway the build is nearing completion so here are a few more pictures.

The full progress can be followed through these old topics

The first few images show the installation of one of the pillars, including the alignment of the template for the Mega Wedge that I acquired off Bazza ages ago.

For those interested the pits were lined with heavy duty polythene and filled with concrete. Due to the height of the pillars it was only possible to in fill the tubes a few inches above the base block. Broken brick pieces were therefore dropped into the tube to give a little extra binding when the tubes were filled after the first fill had gone off enough. A thin skim of mortar was then applied to level the top.

More to follow in next posting
