Olympus C750 Ultra Zoom and imaging

Hi all. I have never tried to take images of anything but I would really like to dip my toes in the water. I have an Olympus C750 Ultra Zoom digital camera (optical zoom up to X100. The thing is, the camera will only allow exposures of a maximum of 16 seconds. My 'scope is a Skywatcher 130PM. Now, realistically, what kinds of objects might I expect to have success with? As I say, I really just want to make a simple start. Thanks.

Hi, have a go at the moon, jupiter & saturn for starters, if it takes video give some of the brighter DSO's a try and stack images, i'm sure a more experienced imager will be able to give you an idea of what camera settings to try.

Thanks for the reply. As it looks as though we're going to have our first clear night in AGES I will have a go this evening and see what results I get - at least with digital it won't cost anything!!

Have a look at my web pages on afocal astrophotography. I have a similar setup, with a 16sec max exposure.

I have picked up 14th mag galaxies in 15mins - and that is from a light polluted site.
