Comet C/2015 V2 Johnson passing 2.5 degrees from M51 Dec 2 2016

Recommended Posts

I put a similar post in the observing forum but it could go here as well as imagers could better take advantage of the  "2 in the view" possibilities.   The comet is estimated to be mag 12.1 and it would not be visible in any scope small enough to have a FOV large enough to see both M51 and the comet in the eyepiece.   The closest it gets is 2 deg 34'   Dec 2 but it's not moving too fast and will be under 3 degrees for a few days after that.  SkyTools 3 has it's surface brightness to be   20.2 mag/arcsec^2 and a size of 49".   For more information go to Comet Chasing here (http://cometchasing.skyhound.com/)

My finder chart attached below contains it's coordinates.
