I need a replacement battery charger

A simple task, you'd think but not to me. 

My Portaball is fitted with a Duracell 12v 1.3Ah lead acid battery and came with a Werker 12v 500ma charger. Now, because this came from America, it also came with an American spec, which probably explains why, when plugged into our 240v supply, smoke came out of it. Perhaps that's not the reason, but anyway, smoke did come out and I think it's died. 

I've tried using my other chargers with, what to me looked like identical jacks, but they won't fit. I can't see or measure any difference, but the jack with the US-supplied charger does fit and the ones I have simply won't push in. I've measured it as a 2.5mm x 5.5mm x 14mm jack, but then I measure my UK ones as that too!

Any ideas what I need?
