Scope advise needed- which of the two???

Hi guys,

I am a keen astronomer getting back into the hobby. I have always owned either big dobs or Newtonians but found them uncomfortable to use after a while. My budget is around £500 tops and I'm considering either a nice big 5-6 inch refractor like a bresser 127-152, Meade a6- or a more portable Meade etx 125. I would like to use the scope for a variety of viewing, planetary is a must (even though the views won't be great for a while). Any advise....will the little etx really compete with these big scopes??
