It's possible, but at less than the speed of light, it would take billions of years to discover anything at all. We can currently "see" back to the edge of the Big Bang-about 13.4 billion years ago. The Cosmic Microwave Background is the point after the BB that the universe became transparent-about 300,000 years after the event.

I'm afraid sending exploratory craft out to discover things is too slow, so we're "stuck" with big telescopes for now.
