HEQ5 vs EQ6 fitting

Upgrade time for the HEQ5, but I need to upgrade the Orion pedestal too so it can accommodate the EQ6. Now what I know is that the EQ6 is the same fitting as the Atlas/ux. However, there doesn't seem to be a pedestal adaptor for that mount, so I reckon I need one made, UNLESS the HEQ5 (Sphinx) adaptor can be modified to take the EQ6.

So, any help on this topic appreciated:

1. If this product is already available, a link would be fab.

2. If there is an EQ6 fitting that could be modified to be securely attached the pedestal, that would also be great

3. Or, if neither of the above, I would like exact measurements of the fitting so I can have the part made.

Andrew, there is a thread in the WANTED section for a HEQ5 pedestal.

What about selling your whole pedestal and putting in the extra for the EQ6 version?

1. It's too tall to sit on the 50cm high base. The current pedestal is just 45cm.

2. The bolts in the base are positioned for teh current pedestal and I don't know how they would fit for the other one.

I suppose it is possible, but it would be the harder and more expensive route.

Have you checked the orion optics site Andrew as I think the UK firm does an adaptor of HEQ5/EQ6 mounts on their pedestal.
