DLA Noise Pixel ratio and a few other tidbits

Recommended Posts

I've been reading up on how to optimize my lens/camera combination. Ran across some pages I think you'll benefit from if you are a DSLR imager and actually some for ccd imagers in there as well especially in the noise article.

DLA  - Diffracton Limited Aperture

Pixel ratio matching your lens and camera undersampling and oversampling

Noise Dynamic Range and Bit Depth

And a little on Diffraction since it rules all things optical.

By blind luck my system is right on the money for pixel scale which is 2.1. The DLA is f6.1. So running wide open at f5.6 I'm good to go.

Ran the guider logs from last time through PHDLab and did the graph that shows where each shot was in relation to where its supposed to be. Very good results the limit I set is 1 pixel. So all the circles in green are in that range the reds are out of that range. I'll take it.

Its an 11 minute run so more than a complete turn of the worm. I'm going to run it next time as well and try to go much longer to get a better sample. There is a real time mode so next time I'll be watching. Give me something to do while the program is running. Now if the weather would just cooperate. Its never this cloudy for this long. Couple of clear nights coming up so I'll test it again then. I've been reading up on tuning the Losmandy on different sites using their tricks to get this one spot on. Don't think I'm going to need the precision worm. But we'll see that was the first time I've run all that stuff I could have messed something up and gotten false data. Sure hope its right I'll have an excellent tracking rig on my hands.
