Focal Plane Image Scale

Recommended Posts

I'm aware of the differences between  the theoretical and practical limits, when using my scope, and living here in Scotland,  I, and others UK wide suffer from the practical restrictions that is weather/atmospheric  related.

That said, my only issue with my Skyliner is the size of the image  produced at the focal plane? I don't want  to use a lower focal length eyepiece or a Barlow combination all the time, as this just adds more magnification, I just want twice the image scale from the same magnification!

Do I therefore, require a doubling of  the telescope parameters to get the larger image, i.e. 8" f/6 to 16" f/6 or would there be a noticeable difference from say  the 12" F-1500 f/5 telescope?
