Atik 460exc and X Y offset

There seem to be a lot of Atik users here so I'm hoping someone can set me straight on this topic.  Is there a definitive XY offset that must be used for this camera? I ask because in trying out various software I'm finding varying results. For example Artemis appears to use X-1,Y-O when set to auto, Nebulosity's native driver, Atik Universal, sets it at X-0,Y-0 as does the SkyX's driver.  Also it seems that binning also alters this setting in Artemis. 

What exactly does the XY offset actually do and will varying from X-0, Y-0 to X-1, Y-0 change something in the image that I can look at to know that it' correct or not?
