First light for my Astronomiser mono CCD+LX modded SPC880

I bought an Astronomiser SPC880 webcam which had the mono CCD and LX mods done on it, and there it lay for about a year  in the case with my other telescope bits and bobs.

At the weekend I finally got round to having a go, but couldn't get it to work in LX mode (normal video mode was fine).  Turned out to be a wire had come adrift inside the 25 way parallel connector.  Nothing a quick fix with the soldering iron couldn't handle.

So last night I finally got to use it with my Skywatcher Explorer 150P,  and here are the first three targets.

M31

Andromeda Galaxy M31

The Owl Cluster NGC457

Owl Cluster NGC457

M103

Messier 103

I know the images from this set up will never set the world alight, but in a way I like them because they quite faithfully reproduce the views you get through the eyepiece.

I'm pleased with the results, and with more care over polar alignment and focus, and more experimentation with exposure and gain settings, I'm sure these and other targets will look even better.
