Wikiastro
Hi guys,I found one of thesehttp://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004VJ322E/Lying around so I decided to remove the lens and use a 35mm film case to fit it in my scope. The original webcam housing is too bulky, and the CMOS board is too far back from the front of the camera to successfully focus. It was really easy to remove the pcb and position it centrally at the back of the 35mm case and then fix it there with a few strips of black insulation tape. It worked a treat during daytime testing, getting a nice image of some distant trees. However, I did notice that the pcb was sitting quite hot. I'm assuming this is because their was no air circulating across the board, so I've removed the tape and am trying to think up an alternative housing. Any ideas? I was thinking of taking a hack saw to the original case and turning it into a sawn off webcam!DaveSent from my iPad using Tapatalk
ChrisLX200
That would be OK if it offers more ventillation. Whatever you use make sure the sensor face is as square on to the light path as possible, otherwise you won't get good focus across the whole FOV.ChrisH
