Tried using a sony camcorder?

Recommended Posts

I have used a Canon mini DV for lunar and planetary video with excellent results, not sensitive enough for DSOs. I used afocal eyepiece projection on a LX200 12" SCT. Settings will vary with the type of camera and telescope, experimentation is the key.

Yep, so have I with a Panasonic DV cam, worked 'reasonably' well for planets and moon but it was something of a heavy lump to have hanging off the focuser. There is also the issue of getting the image data into the computer and for this I used a Canopus ADVC-100.
