Do I need a Barlow?

I am dabbling in planetary capture with neximage5 and my un driven 127 Mak. Do I need a barlow and if so which magnification? .

At 1540mm focal maybe just a 2x? 3x might be pushing it.

I suspect that you will need a tracking mount more, things will drift across a Mak's field of view fairly quick. Usually even on a Mak a barlow is used to produce a bigger image, the planets tend to be bright enough that a large image can be produced and captured.

agreed it will be hard enough keeping the image on the chip without one.
