Hi Kevin & Welcome. I am a Newbie don't have a telescope yet but I bought Turn Left at Orion and it gives realistic images of what you can see.  Happy viewing.  Mary

Just another note to say thanks for all the bits of advice from everyone, which I'm absorbing bit by bit. The stellarium alone is a fantastic tip. As I'm sure you all know it's quite hard at first to (quite literally) join the dots in the sky so you know what you're looking at, let alone to find things, especially as the pesky things are never quite in the same place two days running, and this application is a godsend.
