Hi all

I decided to be brave and have a go at the removal of the Low pass #2 filter leaving the Low Pass #1 filter, and while I was in there I chucked a couple of RAM heatsinks and a small fan on the back of the chip housing. I put it all in an Ice Cream tub and stuck a 12V Case Fan on the outside, leaving off the back of the camera housing (the part with the screen).

I have to say it was much easier than I thought it would be; I followed Gary Honis' Youtube guide very slowly and with a screw sheet it all went very smoothly. I don't consider myself an expert at stuff like this, but with patience and the video it was a really easy procedure. I had the bits lying around so it has not cost me anything. Start to finish took about 2 hours.

Camera is consistently running at 18oC with the fans off, and 11oC with the fans on so I'm pleased with this result. Might investigate a Peltier next.

Only a true night time imaging session will show how the filter mods went, more to follow.
