Supernova in M82

Ok sending the image direct from my phone didn't quite work then..... so here's it again. I generally just use my little monitor for viewing live but tonight I decided to try and capture a few frames for stacking for the first time due to the supernova - I'll post up the results (if they are any good) once I've had a chance to process them. So the 'live' view of M82 and the supernova is 2.5secs integration from my mono Mintron camera taken with my mobile phone.

Nice capture Stev74. That SN certainly is bright.

Thanks Allan.

Very good, that is certainly one big boom!

Cheers - yeah it's incredible when you think about it, a star over 12 million light years away releasing enough energy to be easily visible in a galaxy of over 100 billion stars.

Ok here's the processed image which is my first ever DSO so I'm really happy with the result. The image is 118 frames stacked (plus darks) in DeepSkyStacker from a 200 frame AVI taken with my Mintron mono video astronomy camera on my 300P Dob then processed in GIMP.
