NASA Eagleworks

Recommended Posts

Apologies if this has been posted before, but a quick search didn't find anything.  Anyway, I'm sure this will be of interest to many on here - NASA has a small advanced propulsion lab called Eagleworks, run by Dr Harold White, who is investigating novel propulsion methods, including a "warp drive" based on a revision of the Alcubierre metric.

This article provides a nice introduction to Dr White and his work, and a Google search for 'NASA Eagleworks' will throw up some of his papers and presentations if you want some more in-depth reading (Warp Field Mechanics 101 is a good place to start, as the name suggests).

It of course sounds very fanciful and many other physicists, including Alcubierre himself, remain sceptical, but you never know.  It at least makes interesting reading when the skies are cloudy!
