  1. I've lost count of the number of times animals have made me jump when observing over the years. One of the most recent I can recall was something that made no noise at all - I was still setting up and turned round to see two inquisitive fox cubs sitting only two metres away, curiously watching what I was doing. It doesn't help that I'm naturally very jumpy anyway, I often tell my wife she needs to wear a bell, I get mild frights on a regular basis when she appears silently in the room behind me and starts talking to me!
  2. Finally ordered my first taste of the green and black stuff; the 10mm Delos arrives tomorrow :icon_biggrin:

  3. Been sans scope for too long now, finally ordered a 10" Revelation dob :-)

  7. From the album: Ian's astro pics

A quick snap of M31 in my first effort at deep sky photography. Polar alignment was almost non-existent, so 20s exposures was the longest I could get! Prime focus of my Tal-2M with a Canon 400D, 6x20s subs at ISO1600 stacked in DSS, dark frames included but no flats.

  8. From the album: Ian's astro pics

Taken with a Canon 400D, 17mm f/4 on a fixed tripod under the light polluted skies of Margate. I think it was 6x25s subs stacked in DSS, dark frames subtracted in-camera, no flats. This was my first attempt at AP and I was rather pleased to see M31 faintly appearing in the shot.
