Attaching a focal reducer to a SW Equinox 120

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody,

Having unpacked my new telescope I am mystified as to how (and where) to attach my SW 0.85 x focal reducer to the telescope! The instructions are really poor - at least to me! Could anybody point me in the right direction please?

Also I believe I need an M48 adaptor to connect to my Canon EOS DSLR - presumably these are just standardly available?

Thanks for any help!

The Canon T-ring to  M48 adaptor can be found here Martin:

The reducer should attach to the telescope in the same way the diagonal attaches (but you won't need the diagonal for prime focus imaging).

You may need an additional adaptor to get the spacing between the camera chip and reducer correct - I think it's 55mm (or possibly 110mm) so do get a second opinion on that.

One of the SW focal reducers has a DSLR T-ring end producing the right spacing automatically (without the M48 adaptor) but I don't know if it's the same one you have,

Hth :)

Hi again,

I'm afraid I have another basic question!!! I am looking for a way of attaching a SW guidescope mount to my Equinox 120 which the sales folk forgot to mention....... Is the bracket that FLO sell for £27 what I need i.e. will it attach to the tube rings so that I can attach the guidescope mount??

Thanks for any help!

Martin
