nearest place for observing

Hay everyone, can anyone tell me a good spot near Swindon to do some observing as were i live is too light polluted as i am out in my garden doing some observing now.

Where in Swindon?

Used to live there and there quite a lot of it, saying The Lawns or Coate Water maybe next to you or miles away.

How "isolated" do you want to be, and how will you get there - have you a car, if so how far would you drive?

Are you next to Mouldon Hill CP.

If you are in Dorcan or Stratton you are going to have to get ouside the A419, Blunsdon was still darkish last time I was there.

Joining Swindon Stargazers seems a good option.

i live in west Swindon near the M4 corridor at the moment i have no mode of transport other that a push bike but i am willing to go as far out of a light polluted area as possible some of those areas sound good might go to one of them on the next clear night, and yes joining the Swindon stargazer was the best option for me as i'm only a armature astronomer.
