Eq6 mount

Hi guys could any one tell me if a halfords powerpack 200 20amp would be ok to run the power for a EQ6 mount.

Ah rating (Amp-Hours) means how many hours the battery will run with a load of 1 amp (very roughly speaking!).  A battery should never be run right down so take half this value.  An EQ6 draws about 2A when slewing and 1A when tracking (I believe) so the small 9Ah battery will allow for about 3-4 hours running.  The 86Ah leisure battery will last over 40 hours with just the mount.  However you are likely to want to run dew strips, cameras, laptops, lights etc so the leisure battery soon starts to make sound practical and financial sense.

What you have said makes sence, i do have a leisure battery but wanted easier portability and with 200.thanks for explaining the amp times for me, understand now. You have been a great help. Good advice.

I have two of those maplin power packs and just use them for the dew strips, two stips drawing about 2 amps. after about an hour they need recharging as the charge level should not drop below 50%, so I son't think they are suitable for running a mount, the other problem with these devices is that they have not been designed for "Trickle Discharging" as in the mount or heaters etc. They are more suited to giving a large jolt of charge for restarting the engine,  a couple of times and then need to be totally recharged before use. the most efficient devices are now using Lithium Polymer battery that can be totally discharged and recharged without ill effect but these are very expensive at the moment,
