How far can you push a Skywatcher 130?

As usual with this kind of discussion, I am now wondering about something else to complicate matters.

I have read that a good Barlow can sometimes even improve the image, rather than making a mess of it (which the original Skywatcher x2 Barlow seems to do).

I am considering trying the Starguider x2 Barlow. It gives me another set of magnifications between those I already have and combined with the 5mm BST Starguider (my smallest focal length EP), will give me 3.3mm and 2.5mm, if I can remove the Barlow lens assembly and screw it onto the end of the 5mm EP to get x1.5 (I've asked the supplier if this can be done).

Doing this will get me to the max recommended for the scope plus 2.5mm, if I can use it. The advantage of this, if the Barlow is good, is that I get to try both of the magnifications I was wondering about plus another load as well. The Barlow is dearer than a single Planetary II (Dare I use that name, given all the business arguments about these EPs?) EP, but cheaper than two such units.
