 I'm just pleased that Azure wasn't hurt. I was rather hoping we could possibly include it in a safe solar observing sticky.

On both accounts I agree. Glad to hear that Azure is okay and I think it would be a great idea if there were a sticky of this kind. On how to use and fit solar filters safely etc.

I learned my lesson when I accidentally left one of those screw-on caps on the nosepiece of my old Herschel wedge. It was no wider than the barrel itself, and started smoking a treat as soon as I took the lens cap off the scope.
